Floor and Wall Graphics

In the world of floor (and wall) graphics, things are not always what they seem!

Believe it or not there is science in vinyl, and not all graphic vinyls are the same.

The health and safety of your employees and customers is paramount, so you need to know the difference between a standard vinyl, that may LOOK the part, but which could be putting your footfall at risk. Vinyls that are not fit for purpose can lead to (often serious) injuries and costly compensation claims, not to mention damaging your brand and destroying your flooring.

We produce and supply a comprehensive range of floor and wall graphics in all sizes (from 100mm to 1500mm and beyond), for all manner of applications, from carpet to concrete, for both internal and external use.

We offer vinyls with the full range of Anti-Slip Ratings (see ‘R’ scale at the bottom of this section), from basic to advanced, to suit every requirement (dependent on the usage/volume of footfall/traffic expected).

All are printed on our state-of-the-art UV Printer, and all come with our quality guarantee.

It is a minefield out there, so please see (below) our simple guide to what you need for your particular project. If you want further, more detailed and reassuring advice just call our friendly experts on 02392 381 928.

The R ‘ANTI-SLIP’ RATING

The majority of floor tiles/flooring today is given an anti-slip rating. This rating comes in the form of an ‘R’ value. The ‘R’ stands for ‘Ramp Test’. This ‘R’ value ranges from R9, which has a small degree of slip resistance, right up to R13 which provides the highest slip resistance. This ‘R’ value shows the degree of slip resistance the tile/flooring has. R13 is the resistance recommended by many professionals for public wet areas such as showers in changing room and pool surrounds, whereas R9 and R10 values are often used for domestic situations such as bathrooms and kitchens.

R9 <0.2 COF (co-efficient) Tiles will (mostly) be smooth, glazed, matt finished that will record a low (slippage) value when wet. These tiles are fine for most domestic internal applications. When used in a bathroom, a bathmat (or towel) is essential (to step on) from the bath or shower.

R10 >0.2 COF <0.4 COF Tiles will usually be glazed, matt (tiles) which show (slippage) values only when wet (although there may also be a small number of unglazed tiles in this category). Besides domestic bathrooms (where the use of a bathmat is essential), they may be considered for other domestic areas such as kitchens, living areas and hallways etc.

R11 and R12 >0.4 COF <0.7 COF Tiles will be glazed and unglazed. If a tile has this COF as a minimum, dry and wet, it may be regarded as safe for installations including wet rooms, bathrooms, kitchens, porches, halls, cloakrooms and living rooms. They may also be used for public areas such as cloakrooms, lavatories, communal showers, swimming pool areas as well as larger areas such as shopping centres, airport concourses, hotel foyers, public walkways etc. These tiles are also suitable for external situations if porcelain.

R13 >0.7 COF Tiles will be both glazed and unglazed and are suitable for all commercial and residential projects both internally and externally. These anti-slip tiles will typically be used for pool surrounds or public showers/changing rooms.
